Pair French Tricolore Flag Faience Malicorne Liberte Egalite Revolutionary Bowls. Today we are pleased to offer for sale a beautiful pair of French Faience ceramic Tricolore bowls. This beautiful pair dates to the early to mid 20th century and is modeled after originals made during the French Revolutionary wars. The bowls are nicely crafted and detailed. Each features an oval, paneled body glazed in white and hand-painted with allegorical depiction of the French Tricolore flag originally adopted in 1790. Both the interior and exterior feature the Tricolore flag emblazoned with “Liberte/Egalite”. The bottoms are signed “Isa/Melne”. Pair presents well and is in good antique condition, with minor wear and patina commensurate with age and use. There is surface crazing and both bowls have minor chips to top and bottom rims.
