MONTAGNON CREAMER JUG Antique Nevers French Faience, Rare & Whimsical, c. This is a Montagnon Creamer Jug, a rare and unusual antique French Faience whimsical jug pitcher with stylized handle. The modeling, painting, decor, and glazes are masterfully done on this faience pottery cabinet item. The décor is of a caricature figure in colloquial costume amid a scenic landscape. A stylized handle is in the back. The modeling, decorating, and glaze are well done with typical colors of Nevers pottery: creamy white background decorated with light and dark blue, lemon yellow, sage green, orange, and brown. These are early marks of Antoine Montagnon, old and original French Art Pottery, made at the Montagnon Factory in the mid to late 19th Century. Dimensions (in inches): 4.5 Tall X 3.8 Wide X 4.5 Deep. Weight: 8.7 Oz. The estimated date is late 19. Century, circa 18 8 0. Condition status includes minimal normal wear and rubbing, glaze losses, firing flaws, crazing and fretting.
