French Malicorne 15.75 Oval Platter Unmkd Pouplard-Beatrix PBx Faience Quimper. For sale is a large size unmarked Antique French Oval Platter from Pouplard-Beatrix, depicting a wonderful family scene in beautiful, soft colors, and a floral decor border. The French provincial platter measures approximately. 15-3/4″ wide x 11-1/8″ deep. Although unmarked, this is an early piece from Pouplard-Beatrix from the very early 1900’s; and one of the designs featured in “Leon Pouplard (PBx)” book by Champion & Kervella, see last photo. The platter is in very nice condition overall with crazing; also. 3 glaze flakes on rim, see photos 10-11 for closeups. Not noticeable when displayed. This piece is characteristic of the many designs of Pouplard Beatrix, as their pottery depicted scenes from French country life as well as animal life, botanicals, etc. That handmade French pottery can have glaze flaws, including loss of glaze and uneven glaze color, inherent to the firing process.
