Antique French Malicorne 13.75 Platter / Plate Pouplard-Beatrix PBx Faience Quimper. For sale is a rare size Antique French Round Platter from Pouplard-Beatrix, depicting a wonderful family scene in beautiful, soft colors, and a floral decor border. The French provincial platter measures approximately 13.75 or 35 cm diameter. The platter is in very nice condition overall with crazing; also three glaze loss/rubs from a previous metal plate hanger (enlarge photos to see at top center, and two spots on lower edge, or see last 4 pics for closeups – photo 9 and 10 shows front and back of rubbed area), not noticeable when displayed. Comes from a non-smoking home. Also coordinates well with Quimper and other French faience pottery. Sourced in France from the family of the original owner. This piece is characteristic of the many designs of Pouplard Beatrix, as their pottery depicted scenes from French country life as well as animal life, botanicals, etc. That handmade French pottery can have glaze flaws, including loss of glaze and uneven glaze color, inherent to the firing process.
