Amazing and beautiful antique Green Majolica Barbotine Sarreguemines plates – these would create a most stunning table setting. These date from 1875 -1890(backstamp offers accurate dating) This is a set of 8 Salad/side plates and one large matching platter – all in superb condition. Each Plate & platter has a stamp on the reverse. In 2002, following a recovery plan for 19 employees and executives who became shareholders, the company took the name Céramiques de Sarreguemines. 130 workers remained trying to maintain production. In 2005, the company was placed in judicial liquidation. Production continues with about sixty workers. The courts ordered the liquidation and end of the activity on February 1, 2007. The Sarreguemines earthenware factory sadly no longer exists. Lunéville-St Clément continues to produce some models that had made it famous. Diameter side plates 7.5/19cms. Diameter of the platter 10.75/27.5cms. These plates are in excellent condition, they appear to have had very little use – with no chips or cracks- perfectly good to be used for food service no dishwasher!!! – the intensity of the colour is fairly consistent across all plates – – minimal teeny misses of glaze on the underside of some plates.
