Antique French Revolution Faience welled plate or shallow bowl. The work of Joseph Fouque/Jean-Francois Pelloquin or the work of Nevers. Fouque/Pelloquin often used an”X” in their pottery mark. The company from Moustiers, France made faience and tableware until 1852. This plate is also similar to those I’ve seen from Nevers. I could find no other French maker that used that mark. If you know otherwise, please feel free to send me a message! All corrections are welcomed. I could find no other examples of this plate so I’m at a loss. This hand painted whimsical plate is in French. The plate is approximate 9.25″ in diameter with a shallow 1″ well. It is marked with an X and a dot on the reverse. There are glaze skips on the rim. Pottery marks on the reverse. No chips, cracks, breaks or repairs.
