Offered is this beautiful antique hand painted plate from France. Hand painted and signed by one of my favorite antique French faience artists, Henri Chaumeil. He was born in 1877 and worked with his father, Alcide Chaumeil, in their Paris factory. His father did in 1919 and Henri went on to create his own art work in crackled glaze pottery which was the craze in the 20’s and 30’s. This gorgeous hand painted plate is signed by Henri under glaze. It also is marked “Decor Strasbourg Fait Main” or “Strasbourg decoration, Hand Made” which is written over glaze. It features a scalloped rim with flowers and a central bouquet of a rose with wild flowers on a bright white background. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are kiln marks and some wear on the back which is normal with antique faience. It is a nice large piece that measures just over 9.5 inches in diameter.
