Large Antique 19thC LIFE SIZE French Faience Antique Dog Statue, also Possibly Staffordshire. Guaranteed to be Old/Authentic. I’ve had this piece as part of my collection for over 25 years. He’s unique, and very well done. Dog looks like a Terrier of some sort, possibly a Schnauzer. He’s Life Size, and looks just like a real dog. He’s absolutely incredible, and so Life-like = from his size and stance = He looks like he just walked right into the room and looks right into you with those eyes. He’s done in a very unique Faience, Tin-Glaze Majolica Type Glaze over a Red’Clay’ Ceramic type of Base under the Glaze. IT IS NOT TERRACOTTA. His glaze is unique and very Well-Done = I do believe he’s French especially with the’red clay’ Pottery or Ceramic under the glaze. However he also looks like some of the Early English Staffordshire. I was told he came out of an Estate in Rhode Island, and was located in the Homes Conservatory Room. This is NOT a Newer Piece, and NOT A Reproduction. The Photos are an excellent depiction. This beautiful life-like Dog measures approximately 22″ long x 15″ to the tip of his tail, and 15 3/4 to the top of his ear. Dates to approximately 1870s-1900.. I’ve never seen one quite like him. He’s guaranteed to be Old. CONDITION: He Appears to be in beautiful, excellent used Antique Condition. I don’t see any cracks, scratches, damage, or repairs. He’s also’anatomically correct’.
