This Dutch or French delft lamp has simple floral decoration on a double gourd form. The body is probably 19th century but could be earlier. One of the burners on the lamp is not working. Condition: One lamp burner is not working and needs to be replaced.
Painted with a central roundel with a building in a waterside type scene. The rim is wave edged and the faience glaze is white with a slight hint of warmth. Marked to the reverse with a stylised’W’.
It is otherwise good. This has all been photographed for you to view.
THE STRIPES OF GREEN AND A YELLOW-CREAM WERE UNREAL. THE DESIGNS MADE BY HAPPENSTANCE IN THE KILN WERE UNBELIEVABLE. IT WAS A GREEN CONFIT POT WITH AMAZING RESULTS WHILE BEING MADE.
Made by the Sarreguemines majolica plant in the east of France. The rim is hand scrolled painted.
