These are so typically French -Ironstone /terre de fer each plate carries the emblematic French Coq – Hand painted in bright bistro colours against a white ground. This is a collection of 9 Salad/side plates – all in superb condition. All carry the Choisy le roi factory stamp on reverse and some the impressed mark. They have possibly been little used. Possibly used only for display. Diameter side plates 7/18cms x 9. From 1804 to 1938, the earthenware of Choisy-le-Roi was one of the main industrial activities of this city in Val-de-Marne. In 1930, it will employ up to 1,400 workers in the most important local earthenware. Condition – Superb as previously said -just to be absolutely transparent around the edge of the plates are tiny, weeny flea bites – which is very typical of ironstone.
