Antique Quimper French AP Faience. Produced by the Porquier faiencerie, the scroll shape wall plaque has a blue, yellow and green border. Centered at the top is a typical Breton man and woman flanked by demi-fantaisie florals, standing above the nine hole rack. The area below is covered with superb examples of croisille decor. Made in France, the back is signed AP for Adolphe Porquier. This mark was used from 1875 to 1904 and registered in 1898. REMENTS: The pipe holder is 16 inches wide and 8 1/2 inches high. Pipe stem holes are approximately 1/2 inch to 5/8 inch in diameter. Appears to be an early restoration; very close inspection reveals repairs on the front side and outer edges. Backside shows extent of repairs. Obviously an important piece of Quimper. Please review the photos as they are part of the description.
