A superb faience plate made in France in the 18th century. Either way the piece is of a very nice quality and has a large hand painted monochrome puce scene in the center of three musicians in a landscape surrounding with a column behind them. The gentleman is holding a cello type instruments, the lady next to him has a book of sheet music and the other lady is playing a mandolin / guitar type instrument. The nicely shaped rim has three polychrome floral arrangements to it as well as two single flowers and a fun bug / insect. Puce trim to the edge. The plate is It is almost in perfect condition with some wear to the underside which is normal, it has the stilt marks from firing and a few tiny nibbles to the glaze of the edge of the rim. Marked underneath with a blue cross type mark as shown. The plate is 1 inch tall and 10.25 inches in diameter so a very nice size! Majolika Italy Fayenze maiolica majolica French Szene.
