A teapot made of faience or earthenware in France in the mid to late 18th century. It is nicely hand painted with a puce floral pattern that is more primitive than one expects with a nice piece like this and thus was probably made earlier in this period rather than later. The handle and spout are very well modeled and generally speaking it is in great condition for a piece this old. It has lots of flaws from the making like little extra pieces of paste painted over with small leaves, areas of glaze misses and a few smaller chips around the lid rim and the end of the spout. There are a few small glaze chips on the handle and spout but none are obvious enough to take away from the charm of this old piece. It is 4.125 inches tall, 7.25 inches from handle to spout and 4.25 inches in diameter.
