Antique 18thC Faience Marseille Sauce Gravy Boat Dish Veuve Perrin Sauciere
A superb faience sauce / gravy boat dish made in the Marseilles region of French in the 18th century likely by Veuve Perrin or someone of that caliber. The dish is nicely modeled with simple handle on one side and spout to the other. The main body is hand painted with a superb floral arrangement to either side as well as some single flowers under the spout, single flowers to the rim of the inside and another larger flower to the bottom inside. Puce trim to the edges and the handle. If it were made of porcelain I would have said it was made by Bow – the colors and style are very similar. The piece is in superb condition with just a small chip to the outside edge of the spout and some very minor glaze flakes here and there. The dish is sadly not marked which means it is that much harder to ID perfectly especially for me who is more into porcelain normally than this sort of ware. Seems to be fairly normal though to have unmarked pieces. The sauce dish is above 3.25 inches tall, 7.375 inches long and 3.625 inches wide. France Fayenze fayence maiolica majolica. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like KPM, Sevres and so on. Photos are part of the description – if you need others just let me know exactly what you are looking for and I’ll take care of it speedily! Please do not send me questions on items other than my own! Porcellana Porzellan porcelain porcelaine.
