A rare faience bowl / plate made in Nevers around the late 18th century. It has a hand painted scene of the execution of King Louis the 16th on January 21 , 1793. I don’t know a whole lot of about this sort of ware but from everything I could find it looks to be a rare original period piece. The bowl is in great condition for this sort of ware and age. It has a lot of little firing black spots and the rim has the glaze worn off. No chips or repairs or such. The scene has three tiny spots that do not have any glaze that look like some sort of firing support was in the bowl from when it was made. The piece is unmarked but is definitely from the Nevers region of France. It is 1.5 inches tall with a diameter of about 9 inches. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like KPM , Sevres and so on.
