Barluet Montereau Hand Painted Signed Ambulant Merchant Cairo 19 3/4 Charger. Nice antique large faience pottery charger. Decorated with a nicely hand painted scene based on the painting The Ambulant Merchant, Cairo by French artist Jean-Leon Gerome. The scene is signed by the artist Gleize. Gold gilding along the edge. Marked on the reverse Montereau B&Cie. This mark was used by Barluet & Cie at Creil et Montereau between 1876 and 1884. Has some wear to the gilding, a few scratches to the background, and it has a few chips to the front. Measures approximately 19 3/4 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
