Probably the nicest faience cup I have ever owned. It was made in the Marseilles region makers of French in the 18th century likely by Veuve Perrin though it would be the highest quality piece by them I could find so it might be another maker. The cup is superbly modeled with a nice branch handle with 3D flowers and leaves coming off the terminals. Superb puce trim to the inside rim but the best part is this amazing scene to the front of the cup in mostly puce with a bit of a green and black trim under it and one person wearing an orange and yellow outfit just to give it a little extra pop sort of speak. The quality of the scene is the best there is fitting even the best German porcelain and it really does remind me more of German porcelain than French faience. The scene includes a large building in the front with a church as well as some smaller buildings in the background. There are two gentleman, possibly shepherds, tending three sheep and another one walking away. A tree to one side of the scene gives it a bit more depth. Truly an amazing piece and it was a must have for me! The cup is in great condition with a minor flake to the outside edge as shown as well as to the edges of the flowers and leaves by the handle but considering this stuff is even more fragile than porcelain it is as good as it gets! There is a flaw on the side of the handle where it had stuck to something in the kiln but that is from when it was made so not considered real damage. The piece is sadly not marked which means it is that much harder to ID perfectly especially for me who is more into porcelain normally than this sort of ware. The cup is 2.625 inches tall and has a diameter of 2.75 inches. France Fayence Fayene Szenentasse Hannong Strassburg Strasbourg.
