Set of four hand-painted French faience plates in Gien’s 200-year old Renaissance Fond Bleu pattern. A winged cherub is featured in a scrolled central cartouche, surrounded by crowns, stylized acanthus leaves and more scroll work. Beautiful cobalt and ochre borders. Each plate is initialed by the artist and marked “Gien France” with the castle mark used by the company from 1960 through 1971. Perfect plates for a cheese course, or use for hors d’oeuvres or at tea time or dessert. Note on condition: These fifty to sixty year old hand-painted French.
