Lot of 12 Antique Montereau French Faience Roman History Plates circa 1800. The plates bear an impressed stamp that reads Montereau, which indicates that these were created prior to the establishment of the Creil Montereau Pottery, which happened in 1819. The plates are 8.5 across and are decorated with black transfer scenes of Roman history. All plates have seen a fair amount of use, with some more than others. There are scratches along the edges in the yellow decoration. There are plentiful scratches on the underside and in the bowl area of these plates. Two of the twelve have chips. Please note that there are three sets of two identical plates and six different plates in this offer. Please let me know if you have questions and thank you for looking.
