Set of four entirely hand-painted French faience plates in Gien’s 140-year-old Pivoines (Peonies) pattern. Colored peonies bloom across each plate with blue scrollwork borders and ochre rims. Each plate is initialed by the artist and marked “Gien France” with the castle mark used by the company from 1941 to 1950. Near excellent vintage condition. Note on condition: These plates are in excellent vintage condition except for a minor rim chip on the underside of one plate (pictured) and age-related browning. Primarily on two plates (pictured).
