Has a white background and is decorated overall colorful enamels. Including colors of yellow, blue, green, and magenta. On the reverse is glazed in white. Green double bow ribbon with n. Is the mark o. F Trousseau et Cie. A famous faience factory in Nevers, similar to the makers at the Montagnon factory. Has a wire hanging assembly with hook on the reverse. The estimated date is 1890; which is a best estimate only based on the makers’ mark. The actual date may be later, and the mark may not be an accurate representation. Overall, this work is sound, having no chips, cracks, or major defects, and having had no apparent repairs or restorations. Style fine country French art pottery. This style includes production techniques whereby tin glazes and decorations are applied and worked in stages upon a modeled terra cotta pottery form, and fired several times in a kiln. It is noted that French Faience is not inherently “perfect” – larger pieces were still hand made in this era and as such have marks like little dents in the pottery which are glazed over.
