Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a nice 19th Century H R Quimper French Faience salt glaze pottery plate with wide decorative border and colorful stylized floral design in the center. The plate features the favored color combination of brick (red-orange), yellow, green and blue. The “H” was for Henriot and “R” was for Riou (his wife). Measures 9 in diameter. Weighs 1.7 ounces. This lovely plate is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws although this type pottery is known for certain production flaws. One consistent issue with production is glaze puddling and glaze skips with inconsistent glazing on the foot ring. There are numerous glaze skips on the underside of the plate’s rim and on the foot ring with one minor scratch in the glaze on the back of the plate. There is also one tiny no-harm chip on the underside of the plate’s rim. Overall, the plate is in considered to be in excellent condition consistent with age and normal wear.
