Offered is this exceptional and delicate 18th century faience wine glass cooler featuring a form and style typical of the Moustiers region of France. Exceptional is the level of detail in the hand painted floral decoration having a high level of realism not found in most faience wares. Cooler features the typical scalloped rim from which glasses can be hung to cool in the icy water in the bowl and this example has extra finger like elements between the scallops to more secure the stems of the glasses which adds to the overall beauty and rarity of this cooler. Condition is truly exceptional for this very delicate type of pottery having NO pottery chips, cracks/hairlines or repairs having a good integral “ring” when lightly tapped with finger. Does have glaze flaking so typical of faience glaze. A true museum worthy item making for a cherished addition to your collection!
