The lime green that takes on every hue of this beautiful green is only found in Cliousclat, close to the Dauphine/Savoie border where all glaze colors are softer. Green and what a Green it… The most stunning, at least for my preference. The cruche had a distinct look not found in others from Provence. First, of course, the beautiful half-glaze which is not a Provencal characteristic. The bulbous center is common to the Aubagne Marseillais cruches but it is way lower on the design and the top handler is a perfect height so pleasing to the eye and such beautiful detail. It is just one of those pieces that you love instantly and it is a very’up’ piece… If that makes sense. I like the rare design and that beautiful glaze color. Cliousclat did make full glazed cruches that were usually a yellow color more towards the butter yellow of the Savoie and the top handler also like the savoie, very low compared to Provence.
