Antique French Faience Veuve Perrin Pot With Lid, Chinoiserie, Gargoyle Spout. This is a most charming antique French faience pitcher by Veuve Perrin. It is an early piece, late 18th century to early 19th century. The pitcher has several unique features: its gargoyle spout, its unusual shape, and a handle composed of three letter “C’s” is different sizes. There is whimsical chinoiserie decoration in an emerald green developed by Veuve Perrin by using low temperature firing techniques. The designs are outlined and highlighted in black. The connection of the base to the body has a very small opening, less than an eighth of an inch, done in the firing. It does not go through. The lid has a bud finial and applied leaves. Both pieces are in remarkably good condition – no chips, hairlines, or repairs. The bottom of the pot has a connected “V” and “P”, the symbol of Veuve Perrin.
