VINTAGE FRENCH RUSTIC STYLE MUSTARD YELLOW GLAZED CLAY CONFIT POT 8.25 HEIGHT. Condition is used/unsure of origin/no markings. This beautiful confit pot has a mustard yellow/ochre glaze on the inside of the pot that continues to the outside to about a quarter way down the pot. The rest of the pot is made up of an earthenware grey and has a gritty feel. Confit pots were used to cook and store duck in duck fat. This pot can be used in many ways – as a beautiful rustic vase, as kitchen storage for utensils, as a planter (no drainage holes though) – it works in so many ways. Used the flash on the 9th photo to better see the inside. Only wiped the inside out with a cloth – no other cleaning was done to the pot to preserve the look of the pot. The pot has the typical wear and age found in vintage confit pot. The glaze does have crazing throughout and there marks and scratches. The pot is highly functional as decor and a beautiful piece.
