Faience French 1789 Revolution Commemorative Plate Wall Hanger. 9 3/4″ diameter at the widest point x 1 1/2″ height to top of rim. The condition is good. There is some expected crazing and a few hairlines on the back side. A few small dimples on the front and some roughness on the edges. French faience Tin Glaze produces a White base Finish. The applied colors were applied on top of the white. As expected, there are small bubbles and spots where color did nor adhere to the white. Also there may be a few spots where white was not applied or was rubbed off due to use. The plate is signed by artist with a stylized F on a rolled base with ROUEN below. The subject and symbolism of this commemorative plate is the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789 which lasted approximately 10 years. The Royal Crown is resting on a blade with damaged sword and cross below the crown. The text La Nation / La Loi, Le Roy translates to The Nations LIBERTY. As shown in photos.
