Includes a girl having an expressive face with plaintive stare. Is wearing a period style colorful ensemble including a bonnet, dress with apron, a shawl scarf, and boots; holding a large yoke over her shoulders, she is carrying two large handled baskets. Has modeling, decorating, and glaze well done with typical colors of Geo Martel pottery: creamy white background decorated with yellow, orange, blue, green, red, and black. Has an unglazed underside bottom. Has a makers mark on the underside: a marking in blue under glaze of GM, 2563, and CHN. The estimated date is circa 1910. This French Antique GEO MARTEL MILKMAID W/ BASKETS DOUBLE SALT is in very good condition. Condition status includes minimal normal wear and rubbing, glaze losses, firing flaws, crazing, and fretting. This style includes production techniques whereby tin glazes and decorations are applied and worked in stages upon a modeled terra cotta pottery form and fired several times in a kiln.
