Up for sale is an Antique Faience Transferware Salad Plate made in France. Circa Late 18th Century-Mid 19th Century. The plate is made from Faience and has a transferware pattern around the border of yellow and blue flowers with green stems and a black ornate pattern around the rim. The center has a transfer scene of a man posing with an umbrella while two children tending to him, one of them picking up his tophat while a 4th person looks to the ground. All of the color except for black appears to be hand painted to the plate. There is lettering that reads 2c. Tribulation / 9 heures du matin. / Economic du Fiacre” this translates roughly to “2nd Tribulation. The plate is unmarked but was most likely made by the Creil Montereau Faience Manufactury in France. It could date from the late 18th century to the mid 19th century. There are some stains throughout the platter of the plate, some minor abrasions to the upper rim of the plate, and some minor wear to the decoration and typical base wear as seen in the photos. Otherwise the plate is in great condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. Overall the plate still displays beautifully. 7/8 Tall to Rim. 8 1/2 Rim Diameter.
