Is a beautifully made figural VIOLIN, with a matching stylized STAND fitted to the violin to hold it upright. Has a traditional violin body, b r idge, tailpiece, neck, scroll with four pegs; there are two glazed holes on the right side where the Violin can be hung by a cord. Is modeled in deep relief; the hand painting, décor and glaze are very well done. Is decorated with stylized accents, and a typical color palette of Desvres, including a creamy white background decorated with blue, green, and yellow. The Violin is marked on the back base in bl ack with the mark of 8783, a stylized U, DECOR ROUEN, FAIT MAIN. The Base is marked on the underside base in black with the mark of 8464, N , DECOR ROUEN, FAIT MAIN; t he underside is glazed; the rimfoot is unglazed. The estimated date is c. This Antique ROUEN French Faience VIOLIN & STAND is in very good condition- there is one tuning peg that is broken with a missing tip. Otherwise, c ondition status includes minimal normal wear and rubbing, glaze losses, firing flaws, crazing and fretting.
