Very rare and beautiful 19th C. French faience porcelain vase converted to a lamp is hand painted with a pagoda decoration in the iconic bold Imari color palette and highlighted with rich gold. Very large piece measures 36″ to the top of the finial, 23″ to where the neck starts and the wood base is 8 in diameter. Exceptional condition considering the age with just the typical fine overall crazing and some slight wear to the gold on the handles. Marked L&M (Lebeuf Et Millet) Criel Et Monteau and was made in France between 1840 and 1860. This piece is pictured twice in the book “Faïence Fine et Porcelaine” by Maddy Aries.
