An unusual mid 18th century French lantern clock. Elegant tall iron framed movement of long duration, around 8 days. White Faience type ceramic dial with cast brass fret above. Please see images below. At the top of the images below I have included short video s to give you an idea of how the clock runs. Please allow the video s to load before playing them through. The movement is in very dirty condition. The steel work is a bit rusty but looks as if it is mostly superficial with some pitting here and there. The wheel trains run when pressure is applied to them. The escapement functions correctly with moderate drop. No weights or pendulum. Overall height of movement to top of cast brass fret. 44.5 cm (17 1/2). Diameter ceramic dial 24cm (9 1/2). Overall movement depth front edge of pendulum crutch to tip centre arbour 19 cm (7 1/2). Plates 13.3 cm /(5 1/4) x 12 cm (4 3/4). Internal height between plates 18.5 cm (7 1/4). Packed weight 9.1 kg. 55 x 53 x 32 cm.
