A fun faience box that looks to have been made by Niderviller in the late 18th or early 19th century. Each side has a floral arrangement to it with the same trim and the inside top and bottom have a larger floral arrangement to it with some small single flowers scattered about. The mounts appear to be brass and have darkened with age. The bottom of the piece is marked with a script N. In puce – typical mark for this maker. The piece is 1.625 inches tall, 3.25 inches wide and 2 inches deep. It is in great condition with a little wear to the outside – mainly to the bottom from age and lots of cracks to the glaze on the inside mainly from shrinkage it appears. A few cracks to the outside but none that distract and a couple of spots where the glaze has chipped off – two corners and on one edge. All in all a really nice piece! . There is some old writing on the inside lid – I left it but it does come off.
