A gorgeous antique faience majolica rooster form vase, nineteenth century, possibly by Delphin Massier. Rooster in vibrant yellows, purples, teal greens, and reds stands on deep green grassy base. Behind him is the vase in the form of a cornhusk. 12.5″h x 6.25″dia at base. Vase is in fair antique condition, with light general surface wear commensurate with age, a break to one of the cornhusk’s leaves, several breaks to the rooster’s comb, a small chip to the beak tip, and a small chip to the bottom of the corn husk – see photos. No marks were observed, but we believe it may be a Delphin Massier piece as its form is very similar to his signed pieces.
